LED Solutions from Cooper Lighting Help Cameco Mines

With the goal of reducing maintenance, down time and overall energy use, Cameco Corporation, one of the world’s largest uranium producers, began investigating new lighting solutions for both its McArthur River and Cigar Lake mines. Working alongside Cooper Lighting, an industry leader committed to delivering innovative products and driving transformational technology in the lighting industry, Cameco was able to achieve those goals by replacing more than 973 HID wall packs with LED solutions to reduce energy consumption for its lighting systems by almost 86 percent.

Before simply selecting and installing new fixtures, Cameco was presented with solutions from Cooper Lighting’s entire LED product offering. In addition to showcasing its wide range of options, Cooper was also able to illustrate just how much time and money the company has invested in LED technology. After testing and reviewing the options, Cameco settled on Cooper Lighting’s Lumark Wal-Pak LED Series.

Cooper Lighting’s Lumark Wal-Pak series combines traditional architectural style with high-performance energy efficient illumination. All luminaires feature a rugged die-cast aluminum construction, hinged removable door, stainless steel hardware and a sealed and gasketed optical compartment making them virtually impenetrable to contaminants. Ideal for pathway illumination, tunnels or loading docks, they utilize highly reflective anodized aluminum reflectors to provide high efficiency illumination and are UL 1598 wet location listed. Optical assemblies include impact resistant borosilicate refractive glass, Solite™ flat diamond patterned glass and full cutoff IESNA compliant configurations.

RAB Lighting's New 78 Watt LED High Bay & Aisle Lighter Replace 250 Watt Metal Halide High Bays

RAB Lighting, the leading manufacturer of affordable LED lighting, announces the addition of a new 78 Watt High Bay (BAYLED78) and Aisle Lighter (AISLED78) to its growing line of high performance, ultra efficient LED luminaires. The new high bays replace 250 Watt metal halide fixtures one-for-one with a 70% reduction in energy and maintenance costs.

The BAYLED78 is ideal for illuminating large open spaces such as warehouses, supermarkets, auditoriums and gymnasiums. The AISLED78 is equipped with specially designed optics that distribute light uniformly across the vertical face of racks in an aisle. The result is increased visibility and readability of box faces on shelving.

The BAYLED78 and AISLED78 are UL listed as suitable for wet locations when pendant mounted and suitable for damp locations when mounted with a hook and cord. They are also designed for use in high ambient environments up to 55°C (131°F). Both fixtures come complete with a three-foot cord, heavy-duty hook and safety chain for simple and secure installation. Additional accessories include a chrome wire guard and a clear polyshield guard that provide added protection against lens impact.

For increased energy savings and lighting control, RAB offers a commercial grade motion sensor (LOSBAY800) that can be easily incorporated into installations. At mounting heights of 20 to 40 feet the LOSBAY800 provides a 60' x 60' (3600 sq. ft.) detection range. The sensor also comes with an optional lens cover that modifies the detection pattern to fit the long narrow shape of a warehouse aisle.

"With BAYLED, we've created an energy-efficient, cost-effective opportunity for warehouses and other high-ceiling facilities while improving their quality of light," said Ross Barna, CEO of RAB Lighting. "We are also proud to introduce the AISLED with unique optics that ensure uniform vertical light distribution along aisle shelving and racks. These two products are truly innovative in ways that will make a big difference to facility owners."

Both fixtures are available in cool, neutral and warm color temperatures. Like all RAB LED luminaires, the BAYLED and AISLED have a 100,000-hour LED lifespan and a five-year bumper-to-bumper warranty.

RAB Lighting Wins The Most Next Generation Luminaires Outdoor Awards for a Single Lighting Brand

RAB Lighting, the leading manufacturer of affordable LED lighting, is proud to announce that it has won three Next Generation Luminaires awards for its innovative LPACK52, LGOOSE13 and PLED2X26 LED luminaires. This is the most awards for any brand in the outdoor lighting category.

• LPACK52 is a 52 Watt wallpack that reduces energy consumption by 80% compared to the 250 Watt metal halide systems it is designed to replace. It is available in three cut-off options and maintains the look of a traditional wallpack from the front.
The judges were also impressed by the LPACK52's strong light output and glare control.

• LGOOSE13 is a 13 Watt decorative LED gooseneck fixture featuring a versatile, direction-adjustable head, designed to replace 70 Watt metal halide and match the architecture of Main Street storefronts and building perimeters.
The judges considered the LGOOSE13 to be aesthetically pleasing with a warm color and low glare. Its low price also makes this luminaire a good value.
• PLED2X26 is a high-performance 52 Watt pendant mounted LED downlight. It is UL listed as suitable for wet locations and comes complete with 6", 12" and 18" mounting stems which can be used alone or in combination for a variety of mounting heights, making it ideal for parking garages.
The judges thought the compact, sleek design of the PLED2X26 was an attractive alternative to the rectangular or circular fixtures that are typically used in parking garages. They also thought this luminaire gave good lateral light distribution and was a good value.

Like all RAB LED luminaires, the LPACK52, the LGOOSE13 and the PLED2X26 all feature a 100,000-hour LED lifespan and a five-year bumper-to-bumper warranty.

The Next Generation Luminaires (NGL) Solid State Lighting Design Competition was launched in 2008 to recognize and promote excellence in the design of energy-efficient LED luminaires for commercial lighting applications.

The NGL award-winning products must display exceptional lighting quality and consistency, glare control, application suitability, and luminaire appearance, as well as energy efficiency. Of the 120 products judged (representing 42 manufacturers) just 37 were chosen as "Recognized" winners, meaning the panel of judges would recommend these 37 products to other specifiers.

The NGL Competition is sponsored by the Illuminating Engineering Society, the International Association of Lighting Designers and the U.S. Department of Energy.
