New Intermatic 365 Day Timers

The ET90000 Series 365-Day Astronomic Energy Control allow for independent programming for each day of the year to provide flexibility for applications where load switching differs frequently. These advanced control options provide dependable and uncomplicated performance, plus to-the-minute programming for accurate load control and reduced energy costs.

Up to 4,000 setpoints or events can be preset to automatically repeat on an annual basis. Holiday or exception programming is available to allow temporary overrides of repeating schedules. The program can be disabled at any time per circuit by placing the circuit in the Disabled Operating Mode.

Control buttons provide manual control of each circuit independently, regardless of the operating mode. Input voltage is automatically detected and adjusted between 120 and 277 VAC, 50 or 60 Hz. No settings or modifications are required for different voltages during installation. Circuit quantities can be increased after installation on 4-circuit and larger models by installing additional 4-circuit modules.

All models come with a 100-hour supercapacitor to provide time keeping and automatic carryover without the need for a battery. The supercapacitor is automatically recharged within 30 minutes of power being restored. Each time switch is housed in a lockable enclosure to protect against vandalism and unauthorized tampering. External devices, such as wall switches and occupancy sensors, can be used as input signals to the time switch, allowing a manual ON, timed OFF capability.

Programming is simplified by a USB port, for easy copying and backups. Remote control and monitoring are available over Ethernet for ease of maintenance.

Modern Fan: Selecting the Right Ceiling Fan

Here are some considerations in choosing a ceiling fan:

Style: The Modern Fan Co.’s ceiling fans are sleek metal sculptures that work well with modern, traditional or transitional architecture and décor. They are more streamlined than other ceiling fans because of designer Ron Rezek’s inventive way of using geometric forms and attaching the blades without brackets or clamps.

Size: In most rooms, our 52-inch blade span is the most appropriate selection. The 42-inch blade span should be reserved for smaller rooms or narrow spaces (10-foot-by-10-foot and smaller) or when airflow to the area above the blades is blocked or restricted by architectural elements (beams, walls, cabinetry, etc.). Occasionally, two 42-inch fans may be a desirable alternative to one 52-inch fan. Our Altus and Cirrus models are available with a 36-inch blade span for exceptionally small or narrow spaces.

Ceiling height also plays a factor in selecting a fan. The more space between the blades and the ceiling, the more effectively your fan will circulate and distribute air. However, building codes require that the blades of a ceiling fan be at least 7 feet above the floor. Generally, Modern Fan recommends hanging the fan as far down from the ceiling as is visually appropriate, while maintaining the 7-foot blade clearance above the floor. With higher ceilings, a good guideline is to hang it one-third of the distance between the ceiling and the floor. Keep in mind that optional light kits may add several inches to the overall length of the fan.

Attachment to the ceiling can be accomplished either with a down rod or a hugger. The Modern Fan Co. offers standard down rods, which are vertical poles that range from 3 inches to 72 inches. Down rods work best in rooms with high or sloped ceilings. For ceilings that are 8 feet high, Modern Fan designer Ron Rezek recommends using the hugger versions of Modern Fans, which are short sculptural pieces he designed to continue the style of the fans.

The blades on some models (Nimbus, Pharos, Halo and Cloud) are positioned at the top of the fan body. When hung with the shortest down rods, the blades on these models are very close to the ceiling, reducing the volume of air movement, as explained above. Consequently, these models are best suited for ceiling heights that can accommodate a slightly longer down rod.

Lighting: All Modern Fans have lighting solutions either integrated into the design or as options. For example, the Cirrus provides either general ambient light or directional down lights. The Pensi has a directional down light.

Most Modern Fans are available with a choice of standard incandescent or energy-saving compact fluorescent lamping. Our CFLs provide 75% energy savings and lamp life up to 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs. While dependable for well-balanced, warm light, keep in mind our CFLs are not dimmable.

Quality: The Modern Fan Co.’s line has earned worldwide recognition for its distinctive design, smooth action and reliability. The fans are produced on company-owned tooling in the world’s leading ceiling fan manufacturing facility. There is quality control at every stage.

Modern Fan: How ceiling fan works

HOW CEILING FANS WORK
First, a confession: Fans don’t cool air; they just move it around.

When it’s warm, the blades of a counterclockwise-turning ceiling fan push air downward. Like a breeze on a summer day, this moving air makes you feel cooler by evaporating the moisture on your skin. This wind-chill effect can cause an 80-degree room to feel more like it’s 72 degrees. For this reason, there is no need to run a ceiling fan when no one is in the room.

Something else: Most people don’t think to turn on a ceiling fan when it’s cold inside, but this can actually warm up a room. Modern Fans have reversible motors, which means blades can easily change direction (clockwise) and push air up toward the ceiling. This redistributes the warm air that would otherwise be trapped near the ceiling and evens out the temperature in the room. Circulating the warm air also reduces condensation on windows.

Bottom line: Modern fans use very little electricity to increase the efficiency of heating and cooling systems.

Kim Lighting’s LIGHTVAULT LED Product Line Improves Lumen Output

The first Lightvault LED model (LTV71 LED) was introduced in 2005, and was one of the first LED
products Kim introduced to the market. Over the last few years, the LEDs in the LTV71 LED have
improved to a diode that has more than twice the lumens. The application for the product has evolved into a whole new category because the top surface of the lens will not get hot. This alone has allowed the product to be placed in areas where people can literally stand on the fixture with bare feet.
The product is very shallow, so setting it in grade or concrete is extremely easy. The composite
construction of the below-grade housing has proven to hold up to extreme environments and the use of
bronze on the lens rings makes the product impervious to Mother Nature’s wrath.

The LTV71 LED has proven to be a useful tool for several applications, however there are other
applications where unique designs can take the product beyond a simple up-light. The initial Spot and
Narrow Flood distributions do a great job for general accent lighting where the task is highlighted with a splash of light, but they don’t wash a wall with smooth even light. With the new Wall Wash (WW)
distribution introduction, the luminaire can be placed fairly close to a wall and still produce a good uniform pattern. The main beam from the Wall Wash optic is aimed high up the wall to product a vertical flood. It can be adjusted internally to set the pattern to match the size and shape of the task. With a fine-tuning, the Wall Wash optic can be arranged to where the back light is reduced to prevent most of the obtrusive glare that might be seen by people walking by. Imagine this distribution for memorial walls of signs where people are in close proximity. The new LTV71 LED version has several options for applications with special circumstances.

What about those low walls or signs where the LTV71 LED just doesn’t light because the lens surface is
at grade? This is where a LTV72 LED (Eyeball) design will do the trick. The lens is angled up from the
ground surface to allow the light to exit at a lower angle. The Spot and Narrow Flood would still be used for accent lighting, but the Wall Wash optic would benefit from the lifted angle. If the fixture was position further away from the wall or sign, the LTV72 LED would allow the light to hit the lower part. The optics are adjustable internally to allow for aiming toward the task or up the wall for a smooth light pattern.

The LTV73 LED (aka Directional Market or Speedbump) is ideal for lighting a pathway from a perimeter, offered as a full pattern around the luminaire, to a half pattern toward the walkway. We offer this type of product in the existing LightVault series and have found many uses for its unique distribution. The spot optic inside the unit is aimed directly at a stainless steel reflector tucked up under the louvered lens frame, the reflector redirects the light outward horizontally across the path. The most common use of this type of product is around courtyards where the unit is placed away from the general walking path.

RAB LED Lighting with Battery Backup

Battery backup isn't just for indoors anymore. NFPA requirements include outdoor safety lighting. Get up to code.

The Life Safety Code states that, following a power failure, backup lighting must provide 90 minutes of outdoor illumination with an average of 1 ft candle, and a minimum of .1 ftcandle. LBACKUP is up to the task, with the efficiency of LED.

LBACKUP contains a UL 924 listed emergency lighting power supply that ensure the light stays on, even when the building loses power. Plus, it eliminates the need for wiring to an external backup system.

A cold weather battery option is available for applications in colder climates, where the temperatures go below freezing. This enables LBACKUP to function flawlessly in temperatures as low as -20° C.

WPLED36 is the equivalent to the 175W MH, and the FFLED18 is equivalent to the 70W MH. Using the LED technology with your outdoor backup lighting allows for smaller, less costly batteries.

RAB LED wallpacks and floodlights are UL listed as being suitable for wet locations.
