At a Minimum:
• Code requires at least 90 minutes of continuous illumination from an emergency lighting source.
• Emergency lighting must be operational within 10 seconds of the loss of normal power.
• Emergency lighting units must provide an average of at least one
foot-candle of inital illumination at floor level along the path of
egress.
The minimum amount of illumination at floor level along the path of
egress is 0.1 foot-candle.
• Emergency lighting must provide a max-to-min illuminance ratio that is less than or equal to 40:1 along the path of egress.
• Changes in egress path direction are to be clearly marked.
