Kim Lighting Outdoor Lights

Kim Lighting

Kim products are manufactured with the latest computer automated machinery. Rigid inspection is performed by all Kim employees to assure conformance to engineering specifications. Final assembly is performed by dedicated individuals who support the Kim heritage of uncompromising quality. Kim landscape luminaires are engineered to use the latest lamp technology including halogen and compact fluorescent. This assures maximum performance with minimum energy consumption. Kim design philosophy emphasizes the creation of lighting effects and the harmony of fixture aesthetics with the surrounding landscape.

Kim Lighting - Directional Lights -  Directional Lighting for Landscape and Architecture presents many opportunities and challenges. It can produce visual impact, impart drama, and provide a sense of security. However, concealing the fixtures and eliminating glare can be difficult.

Kim Landscape Lighting Directional Lights

Kim Lighting - FloodLights -  Kim Floodlighting Systems are engineered to produce the specific distributions required to illuminate horizontal and vertical surfaces from minimal set-back distances, or mounting heights. This differs greatly from sports fields, where long distances (tall mounting heights) and considerable distribution overlaps are utilized. In General Floodlighting, cut-off, control of glare and special effects are not considered important design criteria. Neither of these systems produce efficient illumination for the Architectural Environment.

How To Install An AFCI

How to install an AFCI - Leviton Blog

Warning: To avoid fire, shock, or death, turn off power at the circuit breaker or fuse and test that the power is off before wiring!
It is important that the AFCI outlet is installed at the first outlet in the circuit in order to ensure downstream AFCI protection to the remaining outlets in the circuit.
For great deals on Leviton products, visit us at Electric Supplies Online
AFCI Protection
Before you begin, you must first identify the LINE and LOAD wires in your electrical box.
  • Detach one cable’s white wire and hot wire from the receptacle and cap each one separately with a wire cap. Make sure they are from the same cable.
  • Re-install the receptacle in the electrical box, attach the faceplate, then turn the power back ON and the service panel.
  • Determine if the power is flowing to the receptacle. If so, the capped wires are the LOAD wires. If not, the capped wires are the LINE wires.
  • Turn OFF the power at the service panel, label the LINE and LOAD wires and remove the old receptacle.
Connect the LINE cable wires to the LINE terminals
  • The white wire (neutral) connects to the WHITE terminal (silver).
  • The black wire (hot) connects to the HOT terminal (brass).
Connect the LOAD cable wires to the LOAD terminals
  • Remove the yellow sticker to reveal the LOAD terminals.
  • The white wire (neutral) connects to the WHITE terminal (silver).
  • The black wire (hot) connects to the HOT terminal (brass).
Connect the ground wires (only if there is a ground available)
  • Connect the bare copper (or green) wire to the grounding terminal on the AFCI
AFCI Diagram
Fold wires into the box, keeping the ground wire away from the WHITE and HOT terminals. Screw in the receptacle to the electrical box and attach the faceplate.  Finally, you must test your work. If you mistakenly connect the LINE wires to the LOAD terminals, the AFCI will not reset and will not provide power to the AFCI.
  • To test your work, plug a lamp into the ACFI and leave it plugged in. Turn the power ON at the service panel.
  • Press the RESET button fully. If the lamp turns ON and the indicator light turns ON, the AFCI has been installed correctly.
  • Press the TEST button (then the RESET button) every month to assure proper operation.

Back Wiring vs. Side Wiring

Back Wiring vs. Side Wiring - Leviton Blog

Did you know you can back wire or side wire a Leviton electrical device such as a wall outlet, light switchmotion sensor or GFCINote - Not all devices have both options available.

For great deals on Leviton products, stop by Electric Supplies Online.

When stripping wires, use the gauge shown on the back of the device to measure the correct length. Enough wire needs to be stripped so there is no insulation under the screw head.

Wire Strip Gaugue

Back Wiring
Back wiring a device is when the wires (Black, white, green, etc.) are slid under the terminal clamp to the appropriate screw.
Back Wiring
Side Wiring
Side wiring a device is when the wires are attached using the side terminal screws. To do this, use a pair of pliers to bend the wire, creating a “fish hook", and place the hook around the appropriate screw. Tighten the screw so it holds the wire firmly in place.
